As we had briefly yesterday you know at aged 14 his village in Malawi was subject to a severe famine his family had no money to send into high school but based basically on a diagram in a library book he was able to assamble junk parts into a windmill that provided irrigation and electricity for his village it looked like like this we heard about the Emeka heard about this story William was at the conference we invited him onto the stage by then he was 19 and you know i had this impromptu conversation with him and l said you know how on earth did you do that ad he said l try and l made it and that became the rallying cry of the conference frankly well so here we are ten years on you know williams actually here and l don’t know l think we should probably invite him and see if anything happened today Homework come on so l mean did anything change after that last conference so back to life is all in the 10 10 years passes like a lot of things have changed so that time l couldn’t go to school once i was here at the conference i was able to go back to school l had the opportunity to go to Afghanistan l mean where l got so i was there and um l think you made it the whole way through right that happened yeah that’s right wow so l graduated at the african academy in 2010 and the after l graduated there l also went to university i went to Dartmouth College oh that’s Collage in the United States William um l mean that’s one of the us’s top universities that must be pretty challenging going there how much of that course were you able to complete it was it was real like challenging when i started it was mostly like he cramping cramping much kilimanjaro without question so but l think one thing that l did like used when l was there they were like reaching out to my professors if l was having like some difficulties at the end of the time l was able to to finish my course and l graduated in 2014 wow and l mean you you have this inventors mind clearly from the age of 14 what are you working on now let now l’m awake Mondays disappear pump as like in many many people in my country in Milan almost like 80 % of the people are farmers but each and every year we are struggling to feed our operation one of the problem is that because our families depend on me Laney fed agriculture so sometimes when it’s drought or if during the dry season morefarmers are not doing anything so what l’m doing l’m working with farmers designed that pump that they can use for a panel or they can use car battery to pump the water and they can be able to to sell the crops to the supermarket so l’m talking to to some of the supermarket to finance the pump so that in return they’ll be able like to to fed their families and also to be able to find the money to send their kids to school so wait a second as well as a pump and solar system to power it you’ve worked out a financing system as well where where farmers can be funded in part by the supermarkets yeah so l’m talking to the supermarket so that they gotta be able to produce what they want and the each farmers who have like a quadratic and produce at the end of the day they’ll be able to pay off they alone and they will start like making profit in a few years that’s amazing and what’s actually happened at your own village so in my own there’s a lot of things that have changed we have who have also like installed solar water pump that everyone inthe area they can come to get water for free and we’ve also like he worked on the premise coup that l went to the schools build almost 60 years ago with a capacitor funded student the time that l was going there where to solder and a student so the classes were not enough and they’re not in good shape so far we have managed to work with the people in the village to repute the school so that the student they can be able to learn in a good learning environment and both your parents are running businesses now in the village l think yes yeah all of my parents they’re lining business we have for business of like mesmo the grand male is amazed for other people and they also l also learn a business over like transportation so that the people they can go from places to places l mean well l think you’ve helped your sister’s go to school as well you have five sisters i have who s existence so all day of my younger sisters i’ve managed to help them like to complete with the address like the high school education one two of them they’re still in high school and the one is in university she would be like graduating next year so she’ll be finishing up perfect um all this was going on you managed to write a book that sold incredibly well the boy who harnessed the wind that’s taking you really around the world people wanting to hear what you’ve learned what what has that experience been like do you have any stories you can share from that yeah the experience being allowed sharing my story with a lot of people on the world yes being in really exciting experiment for me because a lot of people sometimes when l go up they come up to me that l completely like dropped out of school but once l had like a story l was able to go back to school to finishing up with my degree some of them going to like engineeriing so to me when l was reading a book i trying to share my story with other people around the world maybe some people they might be like in the same situation that l was in when i was doing my work that they can get like inspired and do some project that we can solve problems in their communities and seeing that is being happening in a lot of like communities where a travelodge it’s really exciting to me Andy it’s l feel like l appreciate that so what’s next is there a dream you you have this extraordinary mind and this extraordinary well l would say what do you dream of or they’re coming years so my dream is like to continue the work that i’m doing trying to find the ways of like solving some of the problems that people are facing in my community or in the world in general so i’m still working a lot of waking to at ricotta and also like into like energy one of the work that l’m doing is l’m also trying to put up a lot of like modules information taht people can use that information to do their own project in their own community because the way l studied in my wake l was inspired by a book so if can give out like that information to a lot of young people there’s a lot of talanted young people on the world that they can be able actually inspired by that information to do the project in their own communities so their problems that’s what i’m hoping like to continue doing to share my experience and my knowledge whatever you struck me in such a symbol of all that we’ve been talking about this week when we’ve been thinking positively you know that but the answers are here taht with the right ingenuity and the determination we can try we can make it happen you’re really are an inspiration
